Instructions on Viet Nam E-Visa application for foreigners

VIETNAM E-VISA APPLICATION GUIDE FOR FOREIGN NATIONALS

Important Notice

Applicants should use only the official website of the Viet Nam Immigration Department:

https://evisa.gov.vn/

The official portal currently identifies the process in three principal stages:

·         Fill out the application form

·         Complete payment

·         Receive the e-Visa online

 

1. WHO CAN APPLY FOR A VIETNAM E-VISA?

Foreign nationals may apply for a Viet Nam e-Visa if they meet the applicable requirements under Vietnamese immigration regulations.

In general, applicants using the personal online application system must:

  • Be currently outside Viet Nam at the time of application;
  • Hold a valid passport or other valid international travel document;
  • Not fall under a category prohibited or suspended from entering Viet Nam under Vietnamese law;
  • Provide complete, accurate and truthful information in the application.

Applicants are advised to check whether they are eligible for visa exemption before submitting an e-Visa application.

 

2. E-VISA VALIDITY AND NUMBER OF ENTRIES

A Viet Nam e-Visa may be issued for a maximum period of up to 90 days, subject to approval by the Vietnamese immigration authorities.

Applicants may apply for:

  • Single-entry e-Visa, or
  • Multiple-entry e-Visa.

 

3. E-VISA FEES

The current government fees are:

  • USD 25 for a single-entry e-Visa;
  • USD 50 for a multiple-entry e-Visa.

The fee is paid electronically through the official e-Visa application system.

The e-Visa application fee is non-refundable, including in cases where the application is refused or the e-Visa is not granted.

 

4. DOCUMENTS AND INFORMATION TO PREPARE

Before starting the application, applicants should prepare the following:

·         Valid Passport

·         Recent Portrait Photograph

·         Passport Biographical Information Page

 

5. HOW TO APPLY FOR A VIETNAM E-VISA

Step 1: access the official e-visa website

Visit the official Viet Nam National Electronic Visa System: https://evisa.gov.vn/

Select the appropriate option for a foreigner applying personally for an e-Visa.

Step 2: read the instructions carefully

Before starting the application, applicants should carefully read all instructions and declarations provided by the system.

All information must be provided:

  • Fully;
  • Accurately;
  • Truthfully.

Step 3: upload the required documents

Upload:

  1. A recent portrait photograph; and
  2. A clear image of the passport biographical information page.

After uploading the passport image, carefully check all information displayed or automatically extracted by the system.

Applicants should verify, in particular:

  • Full name;
  • Date of birth;
  • Nationality;
  • Passport number;
  • Passport issue date;
  • Passport expiry date.

Step 4: complete personal information

Complete all required personal information exactly as it appears in the passport.

Applicants should pay particular attention to:

  • The order and spelling of names;
  • Middle names;
  • Passport number;
  • Date of birth;
  • Nationality;
  • Passport validity dates.

Even minor discrepancies between the e-Visa application and the passport may cause difficulties during the processing of the application or upon entry into Viet Nam.

Step 5: provide travel information

Applicants must provide their intended travel information as required by the online application system.

This includes relevant information regarding:

  • Intended date of entry;
  • Intended period of stay;
  • Number of entries;
  • Intended entry border gate;
  • Intended exit arrangements, where required.

Applicants should carefully select their intended travel dates.

Travelers must enter and depart Viet Nam in accordance with the validity period stated on the issued e-Visa.

Step 6: select the correct border gate

Applicants must select an appropriate entry and exit point in accordance with their travel arrangements.

Viet Nam e-Visas may only be used at international border gates approved by the Vietnamese Government for e-Visa entry and exit.

Before purchasing or changing a flight or travel itinerary, travelers should verify that their intended airport, land border gate or seaport is included in the official list of border gates accepting e-Visa holders.

Step 7: provide accommodation information in Viet Nam

Applicants should provide accurate information regarding their intended accommodation or residence in Viet Nam.

Step 8: review the application carefully

Before submitting the application and making payment, applicants should carefully review all information.

 

6. SAVE YOUR APPLICATION NUMBER

After submitting the application, applicants must carefully retain their e-Visa application number or reference number.

This number may be required to:

  • Check the status of the application;
  • Retrieve the application result;
  • Download the approved e-Visa.

Applicants are strongly advised to:

  • Take a screenshot of the application confirmation;
  • Save the application number;
  • Keep the confirmation email;
  • Store the information in a safe place until the completion of their travel.

 

7. PAY THE E-VISA FEE

After reviewing the application information, complete the payment through the official online payment system.

The current fees are:

  • USD 25 for a single-entry e-Visa;
  • USD 50 for a multiple-entry e-Visa.

 

8. CHECK THE APPLICATION STATUS

Applicants may check the status of their application through the official Viet Nam e-Visa website.

 

9. DOWNLOAD AND CHECK THE APPROVED E-VISA

Once the e-Visa has been approved, applicants should download the e-Visa through the official system.

Before travelling, carefully check all information on the issued e-Visa.

 

10. IMPORTANT NOTICE REGARDING VISA VALIDITY

Travelers must carefully observe the validity dates stated on the issued e-Visa.

Travelers should:

  • Not enter Viet Nam before the approved visa validity period begins;
  • Not remain in Viet Nam beyond the authorized period;
  • Ensure that their travel arrangements correspond to the validity dates on the issued e-Visa.

Applicants should always rely on the dates stated on the issued e-Visa, rather than relying solely on the dates originally requested in the application.

 

11. PRE-ARRIVAL DECLARATION

Travelers are advised to check the latest entry requirements before travelling to Viet Nam.

The official e-Visa system currently recommends that travelers complete the Viet Nam pre-arrival declaration before arrival, where applicable.

Travelers should check the latest official requirements shortly before departure, as immigration procedures may be updated.
